The stabbed Imam was identified as Mufti Sadiqur Rahman, 35. He is the Imam of a mosque of Dhanmondi area in the capital.
Abdul Ahad, cousin of Sadiqur, said Sadiqur went to Kamta for delivering speech in an Islamic conference held on Saturday night. Miscreants stabbed him while he was going to the conference from his house.
He was first rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in the night in a critical condition. Later, he was referred to Shamarita Hospital the following morning.
Rasul Ahmed Nizami, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandina Police Station, said that we yet to get information about the incident.
