BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to skip the trial proceedings in the Zia Charitable and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases for the second consecutive day on Thursday on health ground.
She has sent a petition in written by her counsels to the court in this regard.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia won’t be able to go to the court today as she is still sick, her counsel Sanaullah Mia told risindbd on Thursday morning.
The BNP chief earlier skipped the trial proceedings on various occasions in the past citing health and security reason.
Earlier on November 26, Khaleda did not appear in the special judge court-3 of Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar set up on Alia Madrasa premises at Bakshibazar claiming she is unwell as she returned home on November 21 after spending over two months in London.
As the BNP chief skipped the hearing, the court adjourned the hearing on the two corruption cases until December 3.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
ACC deputy director Harunur Rashid, also an investigation officer of the case, pressed charges against the accused on January 16, 2012.
