The 17th National Day for Disabled and 24th International Day for Disabled is being observed today (Thursday).
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have urged gave separate messages marking the day and they have wished success of all programmers of the day.
In his message, President M Abdul Hamid said it is imperative to integrate people with disabilities with the mainstream of development to ensure their empowerment.
“People with disabilities are inseparable part of society. They would have to be developed as worthy citizens giving all facilities,” the President said and appreciated various government programmes taken for their development.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said all sorts of physical and mental disabilities are part of the human diversity.
She said the present government implemented various programmes since 2009 to link the disabled people with the mainstream of the development. “We have launched 68 disable service and help centres and autism resource centres in 64 districts all over the country,” said the Prime Minister.
